1Scribe: license checks for your software
1Scribe is the licensing service behind Skape. As a vendor you use it to issue licenses, check them from your own product, and hear about changes as they happen.
What you can do today
Vendor API keys
Create scoped server-to-server keys, rotate them with a short overlap, and revoke them at once.
Issue licenses for your own sales
Create and revoke licenses for customers you sell to outside Skape, from your own server.
Check a license from your product
Validate a license and send a heartbeat, so your product knows whether to allow use right now.
Verify a license offline
Check the signature locally against published keys, so your product keeps working through an outage.
Webhooks when a license changes
Get a signed event when a license is issued, renewed, suspended, restored, revoked or about to expire.
Signed entitlement export
Pull a signed record of your licenses for audits and reconciliation, and verify it yourself.
How a license check works
- Your customer holds a license token.
- Your product asks 1Scribe whether it is valid, or checks the signature itself against the published keys.
- Your product allows or blocks use, and 1Scribe tells you by webhook when the license changes.
Vendor fees and pricing
What does Skape charge vendors for sales made on the marketplace?
A flat percentage of your price, meaning the list price minus any coupon you created:

The rate applies to the whole sale; it is not applied in brackets the way income tax is. Card processing is included. Free products carry no fee. The fee applies from the date it is switched on for the marketplace.
Do coupons change what I get paid?
Your own coupons come out of your price, and the fee is calculated on the reduced price. Discounts that Skape funds (admin coupons and referral credits) never reduce your payout; Skape absorbs them.
Is there a fee for service projects that use escrow?
Yes, 15%.
What does the 1Scribe licensing server cost if I sell outside Skape?
There is a free tier at launch. Paid tiers are not decided yet. In this mode there is no payment processing: your customers' money never touches Skape. Licenses created by sales made on Skape never count against the free tier.
Are there fees for validating licenses or sending heartbeats?
No usage fees are announced. This may change before paid tiers are decided.
